Halaesa archeological site



Halaesa was founded in 403 BC by Arconide, tyrant of Herbita (a Sicani city). The excavations have brought to light buttresses of the acropolis and the place of the ancient Agora. Some elements of the urban structure of the city were also found: the streets were paved with bricks and parallel to a large central road that lead to the Agora.

How to get there:

Take the motorway A20 PA-ME, exit Tusa. Take the SS113 Settentrionale Sicula , Messina direction, until Castel di Tusa, then follow signs for Tusa after 3 kms on right hand side “Halaesa”
