This lovely 1920's villa nestles in a pine grove on the edge of the Madonie National Park, an area of outstanding beauty. From its position on the hill the house enjoys splendid views across the bay of Cefalu and La Rocca. A driveway lined with old stone walls sets the house well back from the road and its position adjacent to tall umbrella pines makes it a tranquil retreat after a day sightseeing or sunbathing on the beach. The owner has furnished the interior simply, but has also included some pieces of antique Sicilan furniture which suit perfectly the character of the house, with its original tiled floors, high ceilings and thick walls. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, and a dining room leading on to the kitchen. There is one bathroom. Outside there is a wide terrace where you can sunbathe, watch the sun set or enjoy evening meals under the stars. The area
Cefalu is less than an hour’s drive along the coast from Palermo, Sicily's capital. It has long been one of Sicily’s most beautiful and popular resorts. Walking through the historic centre of the town you will discover charming cobbled streets lined with interesting local shops and excellent restaurants. At its heart, in the town’s main square, stands the imposing Norman cathedral built in 1132 by King Roger 2nd. The huge image of Christ Pantocrator in the cathedral’s apse is remarkable.
Close-by, the long stretch of sandy beach is popular with both locals and tourists, and as the sun sets over the sea, the promenade comes alive for the evening passegiata. Cefalu is not just a seaside resort, but also makes a convenient base from which to explore the interior of the island.
