Day Guided Walking Tour - Pizzo Carbonara and Falconry Display

We make our way by road to Monte Carbonara (1979m) the second highest mountain in Sicily.  The walk takes us through beech woods, high pastures to reach the limestone peak of Monte Carbonara.  From the top there are extensive views towards the Aeolian Islands, Nebrodis.(weather permitting, otherwise alternative route in the nearby area).

After our walk the drive to the quaint medieval town of Petralia Soprana where we have lunch at the local trattoria (optional).

In the afternoon we meet a local falconer for a falconry display – a ‘must see’  as he still uses the traditions introduced by Frederick II, the Swabian Emporer, in the 14th century.
